New York-based entrepreneur and investor Jonah Engler has applied his competitive, can-do spirit to building wireless franchises in four states. Jonah Engler brings that same competitive spirit to handball, a favorite sport he plays in his free time.

Handball has origins in medieval times, according to RulesofSport.com, a website that details the rules and objectives of many popular sports. The website says that handball in its modern form was first played in Denmark in 1906.

Team handball is now played around the world by 19 million participants. The game has two teams of seven players competing to score goals at either end of a rectangular court. Players pass the ball down the court and attempt to throw it past the goalkeeper into the opposing team’s zone.

More than 20 handball tournaments, some sponsored by the US Handball Association and others sponsored by state and regional handball organizations, are scheduled in cities across the United States from March through November of 2017. Tournaments will also be held in Australia and Canada.
