Working since he was a teenager, Jonah Engler was involved in multimillion-dollar ventures by the time he was in his early 20s. Dedicated to giving back to his community, Mr. Engler supports the United Federation of Teachers (UFT).

Serving New York City’s five boroughs, the UFT maintains several member help programs, including the Victim Support Program (VSP). Cosponsored by UFT and the Department of Education (DOE), VSP was designed to help UFT members who have experienced workplace violence.

The VSP program offers crisis intervention and victim outreach services along with psychological counseling. All services are confidential and free for UFT members.

VSP begins working when the program staff receives an incident report. Staff members make follow-up calls and go over DOE procedures, requirements, and forms relating to the incident. Members can also request that a VSP staff member accompanies them to the courts and medical bureau.
